AUGUST

FAMILY FUN DAY SPONSORED BY THE FRIENDS OF THE MUSEUMS at Blists Hill Victorian Town.  A day with something for everyone, bring a picnic and  complete our site trail and learn more about the Friends. Visit the exhibits, watch the Kaleidoscope Theatre, visit the Victorian fairground or watch the Punch and Judy.

SEPTEMBER

Sunday 5th September
Visit to the Dorothy Clive Garden, Willoughbridge, Market Drayton, Shropshire TF9 4 EU
Meet there at 1pm. Willoughbridge.  Cost of admission approximately £5. Tea Room on site.

Wednesday 22nd September
The Free Bridge, Jackfield – a talk by John Freeman.
In the Glass Meeting Room, (Museum Offices) Coalbrookdale at 7.30pm.

Sunday 17th October
Friends’ Annual Luncheon
Sunday Luncheon at the Buckatree Hall Hotel, Wellington. Guest Speaker  Mark Pemberton, Director of Properties, English Heritage 12.30 pm for 1 pm -Tickets £19.50

Wednesday 20th October
Tar and all that: Nature, Chemistry and Uses of  Pitch, Tar, Bitumen and Asphalt.
A talk by Professor Timothy Peters,  including information on the Tar Tunnel, and local canals. In the Glass Meeting Room, Museum Offices, Coalbrookdale at 7.30pm

NOVEMBER

Wednesday 3rd November
'Memories of the Coalport Branch' - reminiscences (with slides) of a number of people who used or knew the railway that ran from Wellington via Hadley, Oakengates, Malinslee, Stirchley and Madeley to Coalport. 
A talk by Neil Clarke (local historian and former Chairman of the Friends) in the Board Room, (Museum Offices) Coalbrookdale at 7.30 pm. 
Joint meeting with the Broseley Historical Society. 

Wednesday 24th November
Madeley Mining Disasters - a talk by Dr Ivor J Brown, renowned local mining historian, to mark the Centenary of the last multi-fatal pit disaster at Kemberton Colliery in December 1910.
In the Glass Meeting Room, Museum Offices, at 7.30pm.
Non- members welcome (£1)

DECEMBER

Thursday 2nd December – The Coalbrookdale Institute
Please note the date change
A talk by John Powell, Museum Librarian, to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the opening of the YHA in the Coalbrookdale Literary and Scientific Institute. .  In the Glass Meeting Room, Museum Offices, Coalbrookdale, at 7.30pm, with seasonal refreshments. Non- members welcome (£1)

Saturday 4th December  
Friends Challenge Quiz in the Glass Meeting Room (Museum Offices) Coalbrookdale at 7.30 pm.  Teams of 4-5, £2 each person.
Refreshments available.
