Ironbridge Gorge Museum Development Trust – Golf Day 2009

Gold Day Winners

A hugely successful charity Golf Day was held on 22 October at Worfield Golf Day to raise funds for the Museum. The annual event was kindly organised by Chairman of the Development Trust’s Local Committee, Trevor Williams.
Eighteen teams of four competed against each other on the beautiful course after fortifying themselves with coffee and bacon sandwiches at the clubhouse first.
Unfortunately, the waterproofs had to come out half way around as there were a few heavy rain showers but that did not dampen the teams’ spirits, especially when enjoying some pork pie and a cream scone at the halfway point.
A dinner followed by a prize presentation was held in the evening. Local firm, Acoustafoam (pictured above), went home with the trophy after being declared the victors. A raffle and auction also helped to raise much-needed funds for the Trust.
In total, more than £1,000 was raised and this money will allow the Museum to continue with its vital conservation and education work in the Ironbridge Gorge.
The Museum would like to say a very big thank you to all the teams that took part in the day and who donated money so generously, to Trevor for organising it, the staff at Worfield Golf Club and Joyce and Elaine who served the drinks and food at the halfway point.
The Golf Day will hopefully be held again next year and we look forward to seeing even more teams there.
